This is it! The end of No Excuses November (phew!)
Let us farewell Frocktober also, by ushering in an outfit that's not a dress (although it kinda looks like one.)
I wore this to go see the throat specialist. We put a camera down my nose (whee!) and I got to look at everything in high definition. Amazing and disgusting at the same time.
Lovely hot day for riding my bike. I felt kinda Parisienne.
(There were only 3.5 weeks for me to psychologically prepare to have my tonsils out after the initial appointment. Eek. But now, it's done, and they're never coming back, and I'm going to keep recovering...)

I'm sorry, November fans
I just can't.
Really not feeling too great today.
I hope lots of rest overnight helps.

A Promise Made:
is a promise kept.
I said I'd blog today, so here I am post-operation.
Nothing much (restless and in pain) but just thought I'd stop by to let you know I'm alive (and not in the Frankenstein's Monster way).
Tomorrow is a brand new day.

Facing Fear
I like to think I'm a pretty fearless lady.
Sleeping on random couches? Sure!
Baring all (and I mean, all) at a spa in Cologne? Why not?
Snorkelling in two degree water in Iceland? Yes please.
Skydiving over Prague? Sign me up.
(And that's just the past nine months)
But I must admit I am feeling kinda scared about going in to hospital today to have my tonsils out.
I know it's a standard procedure, and I only have to be there overnight.
I'm still feeling a bit anxious about it. This is totally understandable! Being rendered unconscious and put under the knife (laser? I'm not sure what will happen) isn't natural. Thank goodness I have a history of good health and have only had the one usual broken arm operation when I was younger.
I just have to breathe deep and not get worked up.
In other news, I was in the pool yesterday (hot weather, finally!) and was cleaning the edge when I squealed in terror and dropped my brush into the water. The large redback spiders I discovered weren't too happy to see me either.
Facing fear.

Daily Outfit: Frocktober Week 4, Finally!
It may be the end of November but we're still mopping up the remains of Frocktober (what a frocktastic month!)
Let's do this.
Not sure who the "we" refers to (me and my cat?) but I did manage to blitz a whole month of dress display!
I have been making up for weeks of legs on show by enjoying some pant action of late. Those daily outfit photos to come.
Thanks for sticking with me through this challenge. Hope you've enjoyed!
Let's do this.
Trying to keep warm in this variable spring weather |
Polar bear coat (op shop!) makes me happy |
Although I don't look very happy in these photos. |
Work work. |
Testing the nude shoe thing again. |
Red trench and shiny shoes. |
Looking for the cat? |
Yay, sun! |
Sequinned tuxedo for the Sequin Cat. |
Leopard legs. |
I'm glad I bought this red dress in Portugal. |
Oh, Adelaide blue skies! |
Looking sensible for work. |
Dressed up for an evening something (I think!) |
Riding bike, up the nose. |
No hands! |
I love my rainbow stallion. |
Yes, I am embarrassed to be doing a mirror selfie. |
Stripes + velvet military jacket = me. |
Wow, I wish I could say I colour corrected this but nope! Adelaide spring sun and intense colour saturation! In other news, I like spots. |
Back to cold. |
Red is also one of my "things". |
Liquorice legs. |
This is it! Last outfit! Wore to school for Halloween and the girls didn't quite get it. We had a fire drill. There is a cat printed on my dress! |
Witchy legs. |
My lovely friend bought me this amazing dress. |
Yay! We did it! We survived Frocktober! |

Bed Rest Time
I'm not someone who deals well with slowing down and resting (cf. travelling all over the world these last 12 months and visiting approximately one zillion cities)
So I am kinda looking forward to having surgery this Wednesday [nothing major, I guess, it's just time for these tonsils to go!] and being forced to chill over the next two weeks.
I've borrowed a shelf full of books from the library (-ies) despite my recent lull in reading, and unearthed my Nintendo DS.
I figure it'll also be a good time to rewatch old TV, like:
Maybe some Battlestar Galactica too?
My humble request: Please, please, link me to movies, TV, games or books that you recommend I enjoy while convalescing.
(Although posting might not be too exciting as I rest, I'm committed to seeing this project through and still posting every day this month!)

Sunday Stumble
I'm feeling a bit stumbly, after yesterday's wedding.
These links aren't new, but maybe you didn't see them first time round?
Feel free to share your links below!
These links aren't new, but maybe you didn't see them first time round?
Great library scenes in films (if I had to be a Disney princess, I'd totally be Belle. French and loves reading? Oui Oui!) |
Interesting online courses for creatives (also FREE!) |
25 places around the world that look surreal. I love that my dear Iceland features three times! |
Perfect for this time of year: Creative and non-rubbish gift ideas! |
That Thing I Do: Exposing the world's charming quirks (sometimes a bit vulgar for me, admittedly) |
I made Joy the Baker's salted caramel pretzel popcorn this week. Oh my goodness. |
Feel free to share your links below!

Wedding Wear
Yesterday turned out to be a bit of a mad dash to get ready for my friend's wedding after marching in a Christmas pageant in the morning.
We got there, in the end.
I was a bit stumped over what to wear to the wedding.
Despite it being late November, it was an overcast, showery day (boo!)
I thought about recycling the bridesmaid's dress from my sister's wedding in November 2011 (also worn at my work Xmas party!)
Instead, I wore the same dress I wore to my cousin's wedding:
But it was a bit cold so I had to rug up:
This koala fur jacket did the trick (worn at a different cousin's wedding in the Barossa winter 2011)
Do you have any wedding go-tos in your wardrobe? I do love dressing up. I find there's always somebody in jeans though, sigh.
Next wedding is not till January, and it'll be a hot one! Can't wait.

Google Whoodle
I just opened up a new window to do my daily post when my eye was caught by today's Google Doodle.
I'd heard about it via my facebook feed today (I'm proud to have so many nerdalicious friends!) but only just logged on to a computer.
Of course I had to have a play, despite already being in bed.
Very cute!
Are you doing anything special to celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who?
Of course everybody has a favourite Doctor.... any guesses as to mine?

Daily Outfit: Frocktober Week 3, 2013
Almost on the home stretch!
I think it's good discipline, setting yourself clothing challenges every once in a while. Testing different colours, wearing vintage jewellery, applying lipstick every day, or in this case: wearing dresses every day for a whole month.
Let's do this.
What a delightful week! Only one remains...

Let's do this.
Work meetings call for a slightly more subdued look than is usual. |
The principal appreciated my snappy dressing. |
Even with saucy vintage tights. |
Dressed up for FUN at the Michael Jackson/Cirque du Soleil spectacular |
Proof of wearing a dress (and some pretty amazing shoes, which unfortunately are near death) |
And a sparkly bowler hat to top it all off. |
Riding my bike in a dress on a sunny day. |
Ridiculous red heels make me ride faster. |
Love this retro plastic beaded purse. |
Dressed for warmth as the op shop I volunteer at is a breezy old church hall. |
The ladies loved the mix. |
I think I should wear flowers in my hair more often, à la Ms Ruby Chew! |
Preparing myself for a warm day of op-shopping. |
I do love a good scarf around the neck. |
Should that be oops-shopping?! Hauled big this week. |
Walked into the city with my mother to enjoy some talks in the Botanic Gardens. Roses! |
Drove down to Victor Harbor on the Sunday to help our friends pack up from a fabulous wedding in a teepee! |
Can you believe this was in their backyard? |
I loved all the fresh flowers everywhere. |
Had such a fantastic Sunday with these lovely ladies (all embracing the spirit of Frocktober too, it seems!) |
What a delightful week! Only one remains...
