Daily Outfit: Cheese and Wine

The manfriend and I eschewed Saturday night crowds and stayed in instead with smelly cheese and red wine.

Daily Outfit: Day Five, Round Two

Collapse at the end of the week. I deserved that glass of sauvignon blanc.

Uncanny! I wore this green jumper on my fifth day in the Riverlands.

Travel Plans

Since returning to Australia in February, I've been getting itchy feet. Despite the occasional trip interstate and teaching in the country I haven't travelled much this year.

The solution? Overseas travel, with minimal savings from an extended period of unemployment (by my own choosing, granted). We're (the manfriend and I) thinking January and somewhere cheap(ish).

Ideas so far:
  • Cambodge and Laos. Have heard that Vietnam is overrun with tourists

  • Fiji (?)

  • South America

  • Indonesia

I love travelling. Send me your thoughts and recommendations!

Ps. I've already been to both China and Thailand. Although nothing's stopping me from going again!

Daily Outfit: Day Four, Round Two

What's this? A sliver of blue sky? It cannot be.

The same skirt! How cheeky. Not intentional, I promise.

Daily Outfit: Day Three, Round Two

Cold Cold Cold.

Overly stressful and exhausting week.

Here's how I was coping at this point of my last prac.

Daily Outfit: Tuesday with a Twist

I took Tuesday's work clothes and changed it up a bit for a birthday party that evening.

I didn't realise my eyes looked so insane until just now.

Sorry I've been absent lately! This work thing is wiping me out. 'Twas a massive week.

Wednesday Wrap-up

I'm exhausted. Full-time work wears you down.

So just briefly:

reading
The Hours and Day of the Triffids. Triffids is for book club in two weekend's time and is excellent!

detesting the rain. When will it ever end?

eating all the time. Either my skirts are getting smaller or my thighs are getting bigger. Sigh.

I am super keen on dinner dates with friends and manfriend, a successful teaching prac, sunny riding weather, spending the voucher I won the other day, sleeping in at the weekend, the days getting longer, visiting libraries, playing music, reading reading reading, planning for good times to come. I'll get there!

Haiku

Flowers are confused

they are waiting for their time

When will winter end?

Daily Outfit: Day Two, Round Two

Is anybody else sick of this rain?!

Hey, fancy that! I wore the same stockings on my second day last prac. Spooky.

Daily Outfit: Day One, Round Two

Another week, another workplace.

I've started at a new school for the next five weeks. The dilemma of what to wear!

Remember my last practicum? It's a whole lot colder and wetter this time round. Thankfully the flowers are starting to come out.

Daily Outfit: A perfect Sunday

Bliss! Sunshine and bliss! A glorious 18˚C on Sunday and everybody was out celebrating it.

I had a delicious lie-in, went for a ride through the parks of Adelaide, enjoyed a long, lazy lunch with the boyfriend's parents and had a nap before riding to the warmth of home.

I didn't even need a jacket under the blue skies.

The ride home was a bit nippy that night.

Yes yes my friends, I successfully ran the gauntlet of meeting the in-laws for the first time. Hope they didn't find my outfit too cray-cray.

My Very Entertaining Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizza pies

Oh Pluto, I miss you.

Four years ago today, the International Astronomical Union redefined the term "planet", and consequently booted Pluto out of the Solar System. Now it's been demoted to a humble "dwarf planet". Poor Pluto.

School children around the English-speaking world revolted! How could they accept this new view of the Solar System, one devoid of delicious pizza pies? Clearly they needed a new mnemonic to commit the order of planets to memory. What did they come up with?

My Very Entertaining Mother Just Served Us Nachos

It doesn't have the same ring to it, does it....

Last night I devoured a swiss brown mushroom laden pizza at Good Life in Pluto's honour.

Daily Outfit: D-day

Sequin Cat's interpretation of a 'neutral' outfit (sequins! Sequins! More sequins!) to not give away her political preferences on election day. Plus, democracy is a cause to celebrate, no?

Mmm, peach ice tea cordial.

Pet Peeves

While chatting with a friend over a brew or two last night he asked me what my top three pet peeves were. The first two came to mind immediately but I was somewhat stuck in deciding on a third.

Without further ado,

  1. Warm money. When somebody hands you their change that has warmed up in their hands.... shudder

  2. Knife licking. We may be having the most amazing dinner date, but as soon as your tongue goes anywhere near your knife it's all over.

For number three, I didn't want to go for the predictable spitting/not washing your hands/talking loudly on the phone on public transport/bad grammar.... they're just too easy. Perhaps this is a good sign that I'm a relatively easy-going person.

What are your pet peeves/dealbreakers/whatever you'd like to call them?

Daily Outfit: Rainy Day

Thursday was a wet one!

Can't wait for spring.

Daily Outfit: Little Red Riding Boots

Got dressed in a hurry again.

I feel like I've worn a very similar outfit to this before. I'm not one for repetition. I should really get into tagging my posts....

ETA: Found! Summer version; Autumn version.

Wednesday Wrap-up

Howdy folks! I realised I hadn't done a decent Wrap-up for ages so I hope this makes up for it.

Great week. Despite, err, being sick. This meant that as soon as I got home from Uni I'd ignore the assignments piling up and hop into bed with a book instead, or watch the ABC with my mom.

I recovered enough to go see my friends Steering by Stars play at The Gov on Thursday night. It feels good to hang out with old friends sometimes, you know?

On Friday I acted as a language assistant and helped some high school students practise their French. After, I headed to the central markets to pick up supplies (cheese!) for my weekend away.

Ahhh, ABC. A Beachhouse at Carrackalinga. So reluctant to come home on Sunday evening after time spent cosying up with books, DVDs, cooking, walking along the beach, climbing a hill, visiting local shops and picnicking at a waterfall.

I want to feel like this all the time.

As sometimes happens on Sunday nights, I had a little freakout (hurrah for stress) but pulled through and cranked my assignments for the week. I'm on top of things now (except for the essay due Friday. Which I'll start Thursday night, right?). Uni is such a joke at the moment; nobody can stop complaining about the appalling quality of the lectures. I'm gritting my teeth and keeping my head down. Getting good marks is the only thing keeping me going!

At least I start teaching prac next week. I went in to my school on Monday to have a little look around and feel confident in starting the new experience. This time round I'm working closer to home so will be able to ride my bike everyday.

That's it for me for now. I'm reading the second book of the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman, playing Civilisation on my DS a little too much, watching politics on the ABC, meeting my prac supervisors, eating crumpets for breakfast and afternoon tea, watching film adaptations (Atonement and Felafel at the weekend), enjoying the first tastes of spring despite the cold weather, socialising at band, dreaming about the future and spending my time studying with the cat on my lap(top).

Daily Outfit: Tired Eyes

I was up late essay writing on Monday night so Tuesday's 9am lecture was a bit of a struggle (especially after my bike adventure!).

Sometimes my best outfits come out of tired mornings. I really liked this look, even though it's a bit witchy poo. It's also quite a bit not, though....

Yay? Nay? Hurray?

Birthday Addendum

After claiming I had no great desire for birthday gifts this year, I discovered today one thing I really would like:

a bicycle servicing!

Unfortunately, while pedalling to Uni this morning my chain came off and despite my best (greasy) efforts I couldn't get it back on again. Thankfully, after wheeling my treadly through the sunshine to a bike shop in the city some nice technicians made everything right again.

Although my beloved's back on the road again she's probably due for another service. Birthday Gods, won't you provide?

(I wouldn't mind a birthday haircut either. Thank you.)

Daily Outfit: School Uniform

I'm having to look through my wardrobe again and pull out work-appropriate clothing. It's not as easy as you'd think!

Stay tuned for what I wear to school (work) over the coming few weeks.

Daily Outfit: Beach Dreaming

Oh my, it was a stormy weekend down at the beach! Thankfully the sun peeped out for a walk along the beach and a hike up a hill.

Daily Outfit: Teaching and to Market to Market

Sunny day on Friday! I did some teaching and visited the Central Markets (cheese! wine!) before driving off for my lovely weekend away.

RAWR!

My cat loves me, I swear.

Daily Outfit: A common cold

This is what I wear when waking up feeling worse for wear.

Change a few things for evening:

And I lived to tell the tale.

La France me manque.

I've been thinking about my life in France lately. I miss waking up to snow, and working at Eurodisney, and partying in Paris, and hiking in the Pyrenées, and cycling in Lyon, and dining in Avignon.

Lunch at the annual French Teachers Conference last weekend. Amazing!

Cat cat

Those of you who know me know I'm a bit of a crazy cat lady.

Thankfully my manfriend likes felines too.

I'm trying to convince him to let me post on Cute Boys with Cats.

Daily Outfit: Camouflage

Sometimes I blend in with my surrounds.

Today was not such a day.

Wednesday Wrap-up: sooky sick edition

Oh hai!

No wrap up for y'all yesterday - I was tucked in bed dreaming through a little cold. I've been soldiering on and still rocking up to uni, despite my cotton wool thinking.

Just the usual week, methinks: wearing capes, cyclinginallweather, reading stories, eating salty Chinese with girlfriends, smashing out homework, bitching about lectures, writing lists, looking for jobs, spending time with the manfriend.

I did enjoy the South Australian French Teachers' Association conference on Saturday. And I met up with my ex the other day for a most civil exchange.

I'm looking forward to spring being in the air. In the meantime, capes, boots and feeling the rain on my face. It feels good to be alive. End hippie rant here.

30 Days

I came across this advertorial spread in a magazine the other day (did you know I get most of my reading material from the library, albeit a month or two late?) and while I wasn't much interested in the idea (feel free to check out the website), I liked the styling.

Chic, non?

Happy 600th post, Sequin Cat!

Time flies when you're having fun, eh?

It seems like only yesterday (try, June) when I reached the 500th post milestone. So far, so good for 2010! I'm enjoying the journey.

To celebrate? I'm taking the weekend off and heading down the coast with my manfriend. Cooking dinner together, watching DVDs, walking along the stormy shore. Just lovely.

Daily Outfit: First Taste of spring?

The quality of light felt different yesterday. Could spring be on its way?

I'm pretty happy about it.
