Wednesday Wrap-up (a day late!)

Things have been rather quiet on the Sequin Cat front lately, haven't they? Hope you had a good Christmas and all that.

I flew to Madrid on Christmas eve after a crazy (good!) week in Bordeaux and likely won't be posting much until after the New Year, which I'll be ringing in in style in Portugal! I feel very lucky. Have a great end to a great year!

Daily Outfit: Wine o'clock

It's often time for a glass of red here in Bordeaux. Love it.

Wednesday Wrap-up

Hello you magical people! I was looking in my diary today wondering what to tell you about the week that was, and why I've been so silent on the blog front lately (although wasn't No Excuses November something? Yes, it was something.)

Anyhow. Turns out I've been out nearly every night, for a long, long time. So despite working less than I used to (full-time physics teaching, holla!) I am definitely keeping busy and making the most of my weeks!

Symphony orchestra. Red wine (always and forever). Tutoring. Xmas parties. Stealing a cat. Skype chats. Lunching with friends. Delicious Thai. Crêpes. Metal party. Brass band rehearsal. Travel scheming. IKEA. Botanic gardens. Mint tea. Play audition. Open mic night. Humidifier. Reading. Sushi. Parcels in the post. Chocolatine. Napero.

I could play this game all day. Happy week before Christmas!

Daily Outfit: Winter Light

Winter means inside outfit shots, often late at night. At least you're getting to know my bedroom well (oh my!)

Daily Outfit: Business Cat

After all the excitement of the previous day, I thought I'd tone it down a bit (ha!) with some leopard print. Rawr!

All business, of course.

Daily Outfit: Cat Captured at the Art Show

A few weeks ago now (oops! How time flies!) I was captured by a photographer while art-appreciating at CAPC (Musée d'art contemporain).

They wanted to feature Ms Sequin Cat in their streetstyle section of a newspaper's weekend magazine!

The outfit in question:

Kind of surprised me as this look isn't anything special for me, you know? It was just what I wore to school that day. They also gave me a little interview (en français, bien sûr!) asking me about my style references, inspiration and favourite stores.

Friends? I totally blanked. I forgot about my style hero, Minnie Mouse (in aesthetics only. Personality wise I'm much more a Daisy Duck kind of lady). I ignored my penchant for strong patterns, and quirky textures. I seemed to forget that most days, I just like dressing like a cartoon character.

Anyway. I'd better think of all this stuff for next time I'm papped. Thankfully the little summary written underneath my photo is very complimentary and doesn't make me sound as naff as I surely am. Thanks Aujourd'hui en France!

Daily Outfit: A Mousey kind of day

The other day I saw my friend, and he thought I was wearing a Minnie Mouse costume.

On second glance, am I?!

Wednesday Wrap-up

They say a picture speaks a thousand words (and I sure did say a lot of them last week!) So here we have an 18, 000 word thesis. Enjoy.

It's been a "stick cat heads on photos of me" kind of week.

After school snack and working hard (on video editing) on Thursday.

Emergency lunch before school on Friday. Gravely hungover, after welcoming my friend Alex to town (one of my bestie's brothers, who's studying in Germany this winter). Struggled through my translation appointment that afternoon, but survived.

Survived till Friday evening's cultural sortie: Lascaux caves exhibition. Really good!

Styling in our 3D glasses.

Delicious late night Thai.

Early start and train out to the wonderful Saint-Emilion, land of wine.

It's always business time with Sequin Cat.

Making new friends (with magnificent tails!)

Cold but beautiful day at the chateaux.

We drank all of this.

Time to catch the sunset train back to Bordeaux.

#nofilter

Starting Sunday off right (after a semi-sensible Caturday) with white wine and oysters at the markets. Followed by canelés. And a pasty. And crêpes.

But I did avoid the macarons (why?!)

Worked off our food babies with a stroll/pose in jardin public.

Finally explored the Roman ruins of the town.

Afternoon tea at the most decadent tea shop. Thank goodness Alex departed Sunday night,  I don't think I could've handled much more eating and drinking! Back to jogging.

Monday late night stroll through the city.

Which makes Tuesday deliciously relaxing, with a full day at school, Asian grocery shopping, afternoon nap and cooking the recipe I mentioned here - delish!

This afternoon I've book club, and tonight, the orchestra!

Hoping you're enjoying one good week after another, friends. Life is good.

Daily Outfit: Miss Spot

Looking pretty pleased with myself for matching a spotty skirt and spotty scarf. It's the simple things, yes?

Daily Outfit: Superheroes

Some days I just feel like Wonder Woman or Superman. It's good.

Daily Outfit: Circus apparatus

What cheek! Here I am posing with the apparatus that led to my downfall.

Yep, I shimmied my way through this handrail multiple times.

Daily Outfit: Sunday Stumble

A few weekends back I had a most literal Sunday Stumble, where after a long, lovely (lively!) lunch with friends I did some gymnastics on the tram and ended up coated in bruises. If we're facebook friends, you'd already have seen the visual evidence. I think I'll spare the rest of the internet that horror.

Looking so innocent before wine and galette consumption.

Daily Outfit: One more from Barcelona

Yeah, I know I was there ages ago.

Here we go.

Mojitos make me happy.

Fromage Friday (fail)

I have some cheeses that I've been eating to share (photos, not the fromage itself!) but no time to send it out to you all.

Hopefully be a better blogger soon... (Probably the stress of No Excuses November - where I blogged every day - has knocked me out a bit!)

Wednesday Wrap-up

Thank you, friends, for your patience. May I present to you, a very special edition of the Wednesday Wrap-up!

After last week's pitiful effort I thought I'd better put out something special. So here we have it!

Sequin Cat's very first video Wrap-up of the week that was:

Wednesday Wrap-up the first! from Sequin Cat on Vimeo.

And of course there are a few pictures to go with:

Look at these beautiful cannéladies!

Thrilled about our new book purchases!

What is that at the top of my screen? White dust? Dandruff? Snow???

Cathédrale Saint-André in the fog from Tour Pey-Berland

Amazing structures at the artist's atelier out past the hangars.

So many different media.

Strange, wonderful structures. My friend wants to host an orchestra out here.

Having an argument with the main man in my life.

Ate here on Monday. Have been meaning to for a while - strange place.

Had dinner with my friend on Monday night and his cat turned into me/I turned into his cat. Freaky Friday style.

A few things to note:

  • There's a bit of lip-synching going on. I blame iMovie 11 (thanks) for unsynching audio and video. I did my best to tweak it, but for a first attempt at videoing (all on my lonesome!) I hope you'll be forgiving.
  • I mention a fur coat. Of course, it's fake. Also, 19 euros at the op-shop at the end of my street!
  • I feel like my weeks are normally a bit more exciting. Have definitely been laying low with the whole plague (laryngitis) thing but throughly enjoyed my friends' company all the same.

Daily Outfit: Well in Parc Güell

Lovely warm(ish) sunshine for my micro trip to Barcelona - a few weeks ago now, I really should get this up to date!
