Daily Outfit: Unedited

I know I'm travelling. But. The internet has lots of tricks up its sleeves and I've been able to line up some posts for you in advance. They're just Outfit shots, but hopefully they'll tide you over till I'm back in the country.

Boy do I look salty here! I promise you I was quite happy about wearing my sparkly vintage kimono. Probably less happy about the need to layer up in late spring. I love warm weather!

Just threw this one in to show that self-timed shots don't always go to plan.

Daily Outfit: Festivus

I know I'm travelling. But. The internet has lots of tricks up its sleeves and I've been able to line up some posts for you in advance. They're just Outfit shots, but hopefully they'll tide you over till I'm back in the country.

How appropriate that I'm posting pics from a music festival a few weeks back while we celebrate the end of the year. Festivals and festive occasions! I love it.

Attempting the flamingo yet again. Comfortable plane outfit (with shoes...)

Cool and comfortable was the order of the day for a sweaty fest of good tunes!

Daily Outfit: Flamingo

Hello you scrumptious lovelies! Are you looking forward to the end of the year?

I know I'm travelling. But. The internet has lots of tricks up its sleeves and I've been able to line up some posts for you in advance. They're just Outfit shots, but hopefully they'll tide you over till I'm back in the country.

Here we have a new flamingo look. Did you know that they raise their leg in order to allow one half of their body to fall asleep? Fantastic.

Daily Outfit: Cherry bomb

Yes, I may be travelling through Vietnam but I thought I'd keep the outfits a' comin' just in case you've not much to do with your endless summer days. Here's a sweaty one for you. Practical for riding the bicycle around town (have you ever tried riding in a pencil skirt? Maxi skirt? Short dress?)

Daily Outfit: Floral Dresser

Despite Frocktober being well and truly over it seems I can't tear myself away from summery dresses. I consider this a very good thing!

Daily Outfit: Dress up

All dressed up for dinner? A gig? Certainly not dancing. Wish I could remember.

Daily Outfit: Black and white and white and black

When tired, I dive for neutrals.Thankfully this work look is modest and cool for a warm day. Success!

I encourage you to wear colour

I've espoused the incredible Wear Color (sic) tumblr before but have collected some of my recent favorites (sic) for those not yet subscribed to their feed. You're welcome.

Une nuit parisienne

I've been thinking about France lately (when am I not?) because I found some great French texts last week at my favourite second-hand bookshop.

Watch out for Paris Syndrome!

Daily Outfit: Spring Summer

I know this dress gets a bit of a workout (are you sick of it? Are you?) but it's just the ticket on a hot day at school when you can't be bothered mixing and matching. Good find.

Kitten Covers

I know this has been circulating the interwebz for a little while now but I thought it particularly relevant today as I discovered a stray at the house next door. Where's that saucer of milk....

Daily Outfit: So Frenchy, So Chic

Definite comfort clothes for school. This striped tshirt is ridiculously soft after years of washing.

Snippets of blogging inspiration

As I go about my daily life (teaching, reading, playing music, running, eating with friends, riding my bike) I often come across little snippets that I'd like to include on the blog. This usually results in scraps of paper all over the house with a few words of reference hastily scribbled on them. I've tried to become more organised (Virgo!) by using a dedicated note on my iPhone, but nothing beats your own handwriting, rushed off in a spur of inspiration.

Here then is an old image, but something I must have discovered and dug a while ago.

I love the colours in this ad from Kenzo's SS 11 ad campaign.

How do you keep your blogging inspiration all in the same place? I'd love some practical tips!

Daily Outfit: Plain (polkadot) Jane

Howdy Internet!
What's happening?
We are all systems go for the end of the year. Here's a plain work outfit to keep you motivated... or not.

Not a dog bowl.

Daily Outfit: Sunday Lunch

When I'm not jet-setting around the country (seriously, November was cray cray), I like to spend Sunday afternoons having lunch with my parents. What a nice routine!

Photo time coincided with yoga time? I'm not sure.

Christmas time!

We're getting into the Christmas spirit here at Sequin Cat house! The manfriend wasn't too impressed with my bear-themed advent calendar but I'm sure I can change his mind.

My Christmas wishlist, as mentioned here, is growing (now includes "a mop"!) but I'm not quite sure who I'm writing it for. Myself? Targets for the post-Christmas sales (which I'll be overseas for...)? I'm pretty sure Father Christmas doesn't exist.

In case you need some inspiration, here's How to Wrap a Cat for Christmas.

Daily Outfit: Not Goth

Do other people do this too? When they're tired, resort to Good Ol' Black?

Daily Outfit: Textures

Sometimes spring produces harsh sunlight that makes you squint. I like it.

Multiple textures going on today; I like the combination of lace and a striking silhouette.

5 reasons I know I'm on the other side of 25.

I'm starting to realise just how far I've gotten from those crazy days in my early twenties where Tuesdays were the new Fridays and a night out could turn into a 24-hour excursion.

Although I have a lot of fun memories (and a few gaps....) I just don't have the stamina anymore. I realised that last night watching Cold Chisel (yes!) where I managed to fall asleep mid-set multiple times (to be fair, it was past 9.30).

Erté

So! Here are five reasons I know I'm on the other side of 25.

1. I keep a pair of driving gloves in my car and use them whenever I've been parked in the sun and the steering wheel is too hot. Related: economical use of the gearbox and changing into fifth whenever I can.

2. My Christmas wishlist could easily be confused for that of someone a few generations older. On the list?
  • A big mixing bowl
  • Bedsheets
  • Suncream
  • A nice calendar
Rock n' Roll lifestyle, I know.

3. I have a collection of indoor and outdoor potplants that I tend to on a daily basis.

4. My weekend activities have been rather revealing. Last Saturday night I had an early evening music gig then fell asleep after driving home through the countryside. This Saturday night we are hosting another couple for dinner. Again, non-stop Rock n' Roll.

5. Following on from #4, my hobbies at the moment include playing in a community band, reading six or more books per month, and steadily working my way through a new cookbook.

Despite getting on in years (ha!) I am happy with where I'm at right now.
Do you act your age? Are you (un)happy about it?

Daily Outfit: Spring dream

Florals and stripes and purple. Oh my.

I have awesome friends.

I know most people like to toot their own friends' horns, but seriously, mine are great.

Pictorial evidence:

Most excellent housewarming gift.

THE perfect birthday card.

We like to go here (often) for Friday evening cocktail catch-ups.

Aren't I a lucky panda?!

Daily Outfit: And they're racing!

Despite wearing a frock every single day during Frocktober, the beginning of November was yet another excuse to dress up. This time, Melbourne Cup horse racing!

Such an occasion calls for a pretty dress and frivolous headwear, made sensible for school by flat (sequinned!) shoes and a striped shirt.

Colourful Classics

Aren't these vintage classics from publisher Random House lovely?

I've only read four though. How embarrassing. Have you read many more?

Frocktober Finale

Ah you patient darlings. Neverwemind that it's already December (how did that happen?!) Onwards with the frocks!

Happy that it's the weekend! First shot lucky for this photo!

Dressed up to watch the manfriend's gig at Rhino (NOT the zoo, funny iPhone.)

Sunday lunch at the markets.

Back to work. Happy face!

Madame Watermelon

Lots going on with this dressfit!

A bit sedate. Hard week.

When feeling blue, wear blue.

All dressed up with the best friend to celebrate Treadly's first anniversary!

My friends Sam and Em have been peddling (ha!) their wares for a full year now. So proud of all they've achieved. We had a bicycle judging competition in the street. Devastated I didn't take out the prize for Pretty Lady Bike!

And that's it! Black for Halloween and to suit the general mood. More trying times.

We made it! Follow weeks one, two and three or be thankful that you'll finally see Sequin Cat in pants (horror!)

To be honest, this challenge was supremely do-able for somebody with as full a wardrobe as mine. I'm trying to cut down on my possessions, but I just really, really love dressing up.

I hope you've enjoyed the many days and nights of dresses during Frocktober!
