Wednesday Wrap-up

Big week!

It's the end of September, the end of my final teaching prac, the beginning of school holidays and the beginning of job hunting. Huge!

Since last week?

  • Finished school. Whee!

  • Had dinner with teachers on Thursday, friends on Friday, man friend on Saturday, family on Sunday and Monday then again with manfriend on Tuesday and Wednesday. Add in yumcha on Sunday and a boozy afternoon at the pub and my wallet looks moth-ridden.

  • Three-day French teachers conference! Excellent opportunity for networking and the sharing of resources. I miss speaking French all day every day.

  • Cocktails with girls on Sunday night - birthdays galore

  • My friend celebrated her PhD! I am so proud

  • Sunny Sunday with manfriend

An abundance of good times but a very busy week. In the downtime? Reading Vonnegut and playing Civilisation. I don't think I could get any cooler.

Projections? Filing, essays, blogging and reading. I need to get my life back on track!

Daily Outfit: Day Twenty Four, Round Two

I survived another five weeks teaching in a high school! Gold medals and champagne all around. I like this teaching business.

My last day was equally sombre at my previous school.

WHAT?! Sequin Cat in pants?! How can this be? I hope your eyes aren't too offended.

Last French classes on my previous prac.

Daily Outfit: Day Twenty Two, Round Two

There're just a few photos remaining from my last few days at school. Slowly getting around to uploading them. Soz.

In other news, I'm on holiday! Much to achieve over the next two weeks.

Stocking fun!

Back on my first prac...

¡Hola!

Just found another photo from the other night.

It still scares me how easy it was for me to get in character.

Wednesday Wrap-up

My goodness, it's been a while since I've done one of these, no?

What can I say? It's been a busy few weeks. SO! To keep you all updated:

  • Teaching prac - I have two days left and am feeling so good about it. Now all I need to do is find a job... easier said than done, trust me.
  • Turning 24 - busy birthday then Mexican fun fest. See also: lovely times with the man friend. Non-stop since then but this year holds great promise.
  • Band - The usual weekly rehearsals, plus two Sundays ago and last Friday night. All the hard work culminated in a full day on Saturday in the Barossa with three concerts and a street march. Phew! Turns out we need a trophy cabinet!
  • Seeing friends - French play, Sunday afternoon at the pub, after-school play dates, book club.

I hope you are all keeping well? Finishing at school is bittersweet. I long for sleep-ins but am definitely going to miss my students.

These holidays, I would like to:
  • Attend some conferences
  • Continue job-hunting
  • Finish my assignments due next term
  • Sift through my wardrobe
  • Read lots
  • Plan my overseas trip
  • Blog more
  • Watch some movies

As I say to my students, Yay? Nay? Hurray?

Daily Outfit: Day Twenty-one, Round Two

Home stretch, friends!

Got a few funny looks at school today with these stockings....

I'm looking forward to catching up on all your blog posts when I'm on holidays!

Daily Outfit: Sunday sessions

What are Sunday afternoons for, if not book club and wines at the bar with girlfriends?

Reading Recommendations

After the recent influx of outfit shots, I thought I'd touch on something different: reading.

I'm on my 43rd book for the year and am sure I can make my way through many more before 2010 comes to a close.

I appeal to you, dear sequin and cat fans, what books do you thoroughly recommend to me? I'm open to new genres and authors and like to try different styles. That's why book club is so great - it pushes me to read books I normally wouldn't consider. Only this year it encouraged me to read The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, along with The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham. I enjoyed both immensely.

Tell me what your favourite book is and why?

Daily Outfit: Day Twenty, Round Two

Trying to dress with colour when it's grey outside.

Daily Outfit: Day Nineteen, Round Two

I cannot wait for some warmer weather.

There's no place like home...

Outfit look familiar?

Daily Outfit: Day Eighteen, Round Two

I tried out my new stockings at school.

So many more layers than on last prac!

Daily Outfit: Day Seventeen, Round Two

Eek! Once again sincere apologies for making you wait.

Last week was a bit of a pant week at work. Curious.

A bit more colour than on my last prac...

Daily Outfit: Day Sixteen, Round Two

I'm starting to feel like a teacher!

And on my last prac...

Daily Outfit: Spring?

Sunday felt a little bit like spring as I rehearsed with my concert band. Lovely day.

Diet

I was flicking through the Sunday Mail (quality publication that it is) at band practice last weekend and came across some "diet tips". This article suggested that every time you crave a chocolate eclair, you swap it for a doughnut instead. No joke. It also recommended eating mini meringues instead of M&Ms, and Oreos instead of Timtams.

True story.

Daily Outfit: Friday night French night

Mais oui! Rushed into this dress after school and headed off to watch some French theatre.

Also: I just typed "Faily Outfit" into the post title. How has it taken me so long to do this? Please someone tell me that this is a thing.

A little friend

I received this (tequila) worm for my Mexicano birthday on Thursday and am still not sure what to name it. Suggestions?

I've been wrapping it around my wrist and neck as I go about my work at home. Keeps me company.

Daily Outfit: Day Fifteen, Round Two

Over midway through my teaching prac! I had a very productive Friday and capped it off with drinks at the local. Fab.

I know the lighting is not the best but look at those gorgeous tulips!

Back in the Riverlands I was receiving visitors...

Daily Outfit: When in Mexico...

My family threw a Mexican-themed fiesta last Thursday night to celebrate my birthday. Tacos! Sangria! Guacamole! Nachos! Margaritas! Burritos!

Needless to say, we've been eating beans for days. Hmm.

Can't forget the party games.

I love my family!

Daily Outfit: Day Fourteen, Round Two

Oh boy! It seems I've been so busy being 24 that I've neglected cyberspace. Slap on the wrist?

Anyway. Thursday's teaching outfit from last week.

Also known as: Uncreative dressing due to extreme fatigue.

Remember when I did my teaching prac in the countryside?

Daily Outfit: Day Thirteen, Round Two

Decided to deck myself out in my faves for the birthday.

Looking forward to having some more daytime soon (two weeks left of prac!) and scouting out some different spots for daily outfit shots.

This time last prac.

I pressed pause...

Hi everyone!

I've had a little break from the computers since my birthday on Wednesday. I've also been really busy at school so the last thing I want to do when I get home is start up my laptop.

Looking forward to uploading a few outfit shots from this week tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience.....

Leaving my early-twenties behind....

This is it team! My last day of being 23. Tomorrow, my mid-twenties await!

I've been thinking a little bit about my past year: what have I achieved? What have I been doing all year? Do I feel happy with where I've been and the adventures I've had?

A little summary of the year that was:

So... yes, I feel happy with my year of being 23! Can 24 be as awesome?

Daily Outfit: Day Eleven, Round Two

Bright and bright for my last day of early-twenties.

I am so exhausted by this cold weather!

Last prac.

Daily Outfit: Day Ten, Round Two

Look at those foreboding grey skies! I survived Monday Week 3 ok though.

Last time around...

The Amazing Crawl

I'm devastated! Applications closed today for season 2 of Amazing Race Australia. I only found out about it on Friday so wasn't able to get to my sister (in Perth) to film an audition tape in time. We've always discussed being each other's partner (relationship: long-distance sisters). She'd do the driving and I'd read the maps. We'd egg each other on with the physical tasks. I'd calm her down and she would help me with my (im)patience. We've got it all figured out!

Plus, what else am I going to do from September till December this year? Oh that's right, finish my teaching degree.
It can wait.

Daily Outfit: Red Leopard

Saturday night dinner with the girls (and boy).

I hope you all appreciate my dedication to sartorial documentation. I could only just keep my eyes open long enough to take these photos. True story.
