Wednesday Wrap-up

My week in numbers:

90 - approximate number of people at band rehearsal on Wednesday night
6 (%m) - average gradient of the hill I slogged on my bike up on Thursday
35 - approximate number of bemused faces after I dressed up for Disney on Ice on Friday night
20 - minutes we lasted in the hideous Kentish Arms Hotel in North Adelaide before retiring to a friend's place for Ricard on Saturday night
3 - number of cocktails consumed on Sunday evening
14 - people networked with at an event on Monday night
10 - hours of sleep on Tuesday night after a draining day

I hope you're all full of love out there. Life is short.

Absence

Sorry that I haven't posted lately; I'm going through some stuff.

Until I return, please enjoy my friends' videoclip. Their CD launch is on July 10 in Adelaide if you're keen!

Daily Outfit: Red Flash

Rubbish flashy photographs of Tuesday night's date outfit. At least I'm smiling.

Art Nouveau Disney Princesses

Although these images have been floating around the internet for a while, I thought they were too lovely not to share.

The original artwork is by Enrique Pita and Ed Irizarry and appeared in the 2009 book, The Art of the Disney Princess.

Perfect timing, seeing as I'm heading to the Disney on Ice spectacular tomorrow night! Should be fun...

Daily Outfit: Un peu français

My local doctor was shocked when I told her my clothes were Australian, not French!

Great day for cycling.

Daily Outfit: Super Saturday Soirée

Here's what I looked like when I drank beers in the rain, cheered beards, played golf, danced through a metal bar and sang karaoke. Sweet night!

ou

Can you tell I'm not a regular swinger (of clubs)?

Fräuleins Orchard

Don't forget to pop into Urban Cow before Monday if you want to catch the wonderful Fräuleins Orchard exhibition upstairs!

I stepped in this afternoon and was blown away by the quality of the work.

There's a lovely little interview here if you're interested.

Check out the wonderfully talented Ruby Chew here.

Wednesday Wrap-up

What are holidays for if not ridiculously late nights and lots of dates? The fun just hasn't stopped this week.

After last week's adventures, I had to work hard to top them. It's been fun!

Afternoon tea, networking, libraries, French wine bar, making dessert (not a euphemism), riding all over town, conference, birthday drinks, farewell drinks, midnight meal, sleep-ins, brunch, night in turning into night out, beers in the rain, golf (!), cheering beards, metal bars, karaoke (!), walking home late at night, late-night conversations, tutoring, appointments, talk about travel, wine and wood fire, cycling at night, encouraging text messages, breakfast in bed, running errands, dinner date, art gallery, naps, band practice, beer and cheese.

I stayed in on Sunday night and it felt weird.

I've been spending far more time offline than on lately and I like it.

She rides!

No wonder I'm a tired cat today. I've spent practically the whole day on my bicycle!

9.35 am - 8.9km

2.40 pm - 4.4 km

3.35 pm - 5.3 km

4.05 pm - 1.1 km

6.40 pm - 3.7 km

9.45 pm - 3.7 km

27.1 km! That's a LOT for me. Pity I had to put up with awful sweaty feelings....

Daily Outfit: Pink and Purple

On Friday I worked myself into a tizz being busy busy all about town. It was lovely to finally sit down at 11.30 for a home-cooked meal. Pity about the pudding.

This may or may not be the wet jacket I mentioned.... curse a 40-min ride across town!

Hot and cold

Golly gosh, Adelaide has had some chilly evenings lately! What has been spinning me out however is how to dress appropriately. I'm all for layering which is well and good if you're going to the movies or the pub and wandering about, but my dilemma is cycling.

Riding my bike is my primary means of transportation. Adelaide summers are great for this with long evenings and balmy nights. Winter, however, is a whole lot trickier. There's nothing like riding through crisp evenings and it's lovely to rug up. But when you combine layering of woolen and warm garments with physical exercice, you get.... sweating. Ew.

So friends, what to do? Wear fewer clothes and brave the initial chill? Layer up and suck it up? It's not so attractive rocking up to a conference with a wet jacket.... just saying.

Daily Outfit: Great Expectations

Things have been really great lately!

A visit from a cat friend

And another way to wear it.

Unfortunately the cinema was packed out for the Banksy film so we had a cosy apero at the Apothecary instead. Lovely.

Golden belly

Weekends are for penguin waffles! Delicious.

What do you like to cook up at the weekend?

Daily Outfit: Black and Blue

Bruise colours and an awkward skirt length. Hooray for winter!

Daily Outfit: Shiny Shiny

Just a quick one before I head out for the night.

Very chilled holiday day. Library and naps.

Daily Outfit: Debrief

I headed back into Uni for the last time for six weeks on Tuesday to have a little chat about my country experience. The consensus amongst my peers is overwhelmingly positive.

A few of my friends asked if I toned down the outfits for country living. You be the judge..

PS. I'm so happy to be back on my bicycle! Lovers, reunited.

Daily Outfit: Most Excellent Sunday

If you read this week's summary, you'd know that I had an awesome one. Particularly, superbusy Sunday!

Cabaret calls for fun outfit choices:

Hot pink satin lace-up boots?? YES PLEASE!

Daily Outfit: Rock!

As mentioned (in detail), I had a rather adventurous Sunday. Hooray!

Jeans! Sneakers! Photoshoot at the top of a cliff! Good times.

Daily Outfit: Saturday Soirée

Perfect for cat cuddling.

I'm really keen on this awkward skirt length for winter. Thoughts?

Gift Bag

Isn't this gift bag I got for my mentor teacher gorgeous?

Daily Outfit: Back to the Big Smoke

I left the countryside while hot air balloons filled the air.

Comfortable gear for a car journey. Gave my cape an outing.

Daily Outfit: Day Twenty five

This is it! The last day at school.

Unfortunately, one of my students had challenged me not to wear any red on this day. Do you know how unhappy this makes me?! I love a challenge but I adore wearing red. I did remind her of the other school days where I was rouge-free but she was adamant.

Kind of anti-climatic for a final outfit, non?

Daily Outfit: Day Twenty four

Last French classes. Colour scheme? Tricolore.

There's a blue cardigan peeking out from under my black tuxedo jacket.

Everybody laughed at me when I fell off my chair playing fruit salad.

Wednesday Wrap-up

Wrap-up?!? If my week was any busier with movement and twists then it'd be origami!

Coopers Pale Ale and salt and pepper eggplant. It's good to be home.

Saying goodbye: baking, morning teas, last lunches, dinner dates, last lessons.
Saying hello: so cold!, visiting my grandma, hanging out with ma + pa, slumber parties, being adventurous, dinner date, cocktails, farewell do, sleep-ins, debrief day, afternoon beer, band practise, library visit.

It was a ridiculously busy last few days at school. I took my housemate out to dinner on Wednesday night for some Indian. Hilarious meal and a lovely walk home.

On Thursday we hosted a delicious morning tea for our colleagues and said goodbyes during our last classes. After working on some job applications I sped home to get to the hockey club social dinner. Fun night!

Friday was my last day. Rather anticlimatic, actually, after Thursday's frivolity. Last-minute photocopying and saying farewells. Drinks in the staff room. Cosy night in with my housemate: curry, red wine, chips and chick flick on beanbags. Yes!

My bedroom, all packed up.

Saturday was an early start. I set my alarm for 6am to make sure my housemate was up in time to catch the bus. I began the journey back to Adelaide at a more respectable hour of 10am. Laughed the whole way home. After unloading all my things, I went to visit my grandma at the hospital. Saturday night? Frozen fingers and patting black cats at my friend's new sharehouse.

New friend.

I've been trying to achieve new things in 2010 and be more confident. To this end, when rock climbing was suggested for 9 o'clock on Sunday morning, I was in! It was a glorious day for climbing and after a little instruction I was able to scale my first rock face. Awesome! Had a most excellent day and capped it off with cocktails at the casino, a little cabaret show featuring the charismatic Tim Rogers, late night Chinese and a farewell house party for a dear friend. I was one tired cat when I crawled into bed that night.

Walking along cliffs on Sunday. Don't look down.

Great day for climbing.

Not a new friend.

Proof!

Packing up at the end of a long day.

Glorious bush sunset.

Public holiday Monday. Day of leisure. Uber sleep in, tea and pancakes in the afternoon sunshine, conversations with cats and new friends. Learning and teaching.

Tuesday: Isn't the week over yet? There's still more action. Debrief day at uni after a respectable sleep. Chatted with fellow student teachers about their experiences at schools and enjoyed the free lunch. The afternoon was reserved for beer drinking and riding my bicycle in the sunshine.

Finally today (Wednesday) I've started to get in to the holiday routine. Today's agenda? Visit a local library and nap. I'm pleased to admit that I achieved both of these. It should be noted that I got a few odd jobs done too and phone calls made here and there. Not to be sniffed at! Sushi lunch and fruit salad for afternoon tea: perfect fuel for seeing my band mates at rehearsal.

Good week? GREAT week. I only hope that next week can live up to its standards.
