After my job interview last week, I turned up to my first band rehearsal for the year.

What fun! What joy! What music!


I was very happy to be back among my bandmates. Lots of hugs and laughter that evening.

Last week I had a job interview at my old school for a french teaching assistant!

What's up, angry face?

This is what I wanted to wear. Unfortunately, riding a bicycle does not agree with a cherry red pencil skirt!


So I went with a more cyclist friendly skirt.


And a classy jacket, just to polish things up a little bit.

Literary tastes

I read a lot. We're talking five, six, seven books a month here. Is that a lot to you? Perhaps my eyes are slow and lazy. However, I know for a fact that I'm not as much of a speed reader as my mother, who is currently churning through the Master and Commander series and loving it.

What's whetting your literary appetite at the moment? It's Writers' Week here in Adelaide this week and I'll hopefully make it along to a few workshops/readings. But with so much on in the city at the moment, and a fresh start to Uni who knows if I'll have the time.

Anyway, back to reading. I'm pretty excited by all the choice on my bookshelves, and my easy access to libraries. Additionally, I've come across a few books in my travels lately...

Daily outfit: bowling with Nan

Aren't I a good granddaughter, visiting both grandmothers as soon as I'm back in the country?


Had an excellent time eating doughnuts with my Nan's bowling team.





An example of a pretty uninspired outfit. Jumped out of the shower (maybe a little hungover) and threw on the first dress I saw. It was a hit with the blue-rinse crowd!

Cat cards

Terribly photoshopped cat cards at a local op shop. I bought the lot.



Now just have to wait for my friends' birthdays. Hurry up and get old already, dudes!

Daily Outfit: Grandma's house

I caught the bus down to Grandma's seaside home. Didn't get eaten by a big bad wolf (phew).

It was a warm day.

For night, I changed the jacket and heels to go and speak French with my friend.

PS. At grandma's house she showed me a printout that my mom had given her. It was my blog post about her lovely knitted goods! Loved it.

A little friend

My mom and I spent a rather hilarious few moments cracking nuts the other day, with help from our friend.








The bad news? The Brazil nuts smell really, really bad. Old man's breath bad.

Daily Outfit: Monday with Mom

I've decided that I'm going to attempt to photograph my outfit daily, seeing as this feature is all about being regular...

So despite unoriginal wardrobe choices, uninspired repeats or just plain mistakes, you'll be seeing a fair few outfit shots up here on Sequin Cat.

Wardrobe choices

Remember how I was rocking the capsule wardrobe for a good ten months? I do. My limited clothing choices didn't make getting dressed easy, particularly over a harsh European Winter.

Now that I'm home, I'm confronted with an abundance of choice: there's just too much. Getting dressed in the morning is a challenge and I usually just grab the first item my eye lands on. This has meant a lot of Summer dresses - pop them on, find some shoes and onto your bike!





What I really need to do is have a think about my themes for this Summer/Autumn, and hopefully that will give me some style direction.

Just a minute in February

Reading... short stories, bus timetables, plane tickets, goodbye letters.

Listening... to boarding calls, my aunts' laughter, friendly bands.

Watching... Weeds season one, the weather out the window (snow to heatwave!), band rehearsal, many movies.

Buying... stamps in Paris, secondhand books, iceblocks, cool drinks, material for Uni.

Wanting... to be here but also there.

Cooking.... not a thing! Eating out lots (hrmm).

Making... an easy return into Australian life, saying farewell to France.

Loving... my family, friends and cat. Motivation to succeed at Uni.
