Cute boys with cats
Sequin Cat has been out of action lately! Putting in the long hours at school, spending time with the boy and trying to catch up on all of your blogs. How does everyone manage?
Back around Christmas I emailed the wonderful cute boys with cats a photo of the manfriend and his feline friend. Forgot all about it till we were hanging with my cat today and he mentioned the site. Cue a good half-hour of pleasant trawling to see if his pic had been uploaded. Success!

Daily Outfit: Sunday Sequins
They don't call me the Sequin Cat for nothing.
Some days you just don't want to get dressed. Thank goodness for sequin leggings on days like these.

Wednesday Wrap-up
After last week's busy-ness, I feel a little more on top of things. I attribute that to spending time during band rehearsal on Sunday doing my week's planning...
No photos today of day-to-day life but lots of Daily Outfit shots being uploaded.
Let's take a closer look at the week that was, shall we?
Thursday: Fire drill at school. Stayed late doing work (how unusual...) then popped into a boutique on the way home for a shop. Unsuccessful.
Friday: Finished school early so headed to some local op shops. Win! A few items for work and play but nothing amazing. Running errands in the city then a long, slow and wet drive home through peak-hour traffic. Snuggled in with the cat and listened to the rain before the manfriend came over.
Saturday: As mentioned, snooze in, reading books, burgers for lunch, the movies, dinner with the in-laws, birthday drinks. Too tired to watch Harry Potter when we got in!
Sunday: No rest for the wicked. Band rehearsal from 10 - 4. Lunch again with the in-laws. The usual back to school routine - planning, ironing, cooking, washing. Felt happy and prepared for the working week ahead. Harry Potter DVD with popcorn in bed!
Monday: Gentle start to the week and movie date at night. Left school at a most decent hour and dropped in on the manfriend for an afterschool Wii session. Black Swan + bottle of red. Wobbly ride home.
Tuesday: Not so terrible despite teaching every lesson. Manfriend over to finish off Sunday's Harry Potter (I fell asleep!) Called my sister to organise my next visit to Perth.
Which brings us to today! Apologies all round for the dull update. Basically lots of movies this week: Spectrum (free tickets, don't ask), Black Swan, Harry Potter 6. Very enjoyable.

Daily Outfit: Saturday soiree
After a wonderfully relaxing Saturday (sleep in, reading, lunch date, cinema, dinner) we headed out into light drizzle for my friend's birthday drinks.

Daily Outfit: Denim and Lace
Some days you just need to get dressed and get to work. This was such a day.
I would've worn a different skirt if I'd had time to change; what do you think?
(Turned it into a tutu that evening for Chinese!)

Daily Outfit: Saint Valentine
Oh I do love dressing up for special occasions!
As we all know, Monday was Valentines' day. Although my daytime attire was nothing spesh, that evening I headed off with the manfriend to see Phoenix. He brought me the perfect frangipani blossom! Bless.
How did you spend your day of love?

Wednesday Wrap-up
Before I roll into bed for a well-deserved rest (you be the judge...), thought I'd touch base and let you know what's been happening chez Sequin Cat.
School - yippee! Lots to do but every day is different. It's such a full-on job but very exciting.
Sydney - wonderful times with wonderful friends. I flew out after school on Friday and came back Sunday afternoon. Showered my (very) pregnant friend with love at her baby shower as it showered outside. Delicious food and delightful company!
No movie this week as Monday was reserved for Phoenix. So good! Especially when they covered Air's Playground Love for an encore.
Otherwise? 20th birthday party, listening to my ancient iPod, curries, crisp apples, driving my new car, ticking to-do lists, feeling inspired about learning and living, reading magazines with the family, white wine and a mars bar on the plane, being able to afford a taxi ride, laughing over old photographs, going out for breakfast, organising exciting experiments, wearing stripes, hot cross buns, farewell dinner, pleases and thank yous, ironing my shirt in the morning, band practice, reminiscing about France, buying a year planner, reading blogs, compiling my reading list, being driven around in a convertible, sparkling red, giant fruchocs, sending lots of texts, being gifted a new phone, time with the boy I love.

Daily Outfit: Red Monday
Every day is red when you're a Sequin Cat!
Monday was a "getting to know you" day at a sports club for the younger students. Cue the casual clothes!

Daily Outfit: Sydney Sunday
I popped up to Sydney at the weekend. Grey weather but the sun shines when you're with friends! So much laughter.

Adieu = to God
I saw this band last night:
They're from "Paris, France" (say in a terrible mangled American accent. Ugh.)
It made me think about my life in France. Tomorrow marks exactly a year since I left my French life behind: all my friends, my job at Disney, the smells of Paris, the food. I don't really miss the cold but I'm feeling nostalgic for all that I left behind.

Daily Outfit: Work Week
Turns out that starting a new job is hard and some days I've been at school till 6.30. Sigh. A bit light on the outfit photos for this week but I'll try to keep it up! At least we've still got daylight savings.

Daily Outfit: Casual Sunday
STOP THE PRESS!
Perhaps no need for quite such a dramatic headline, but.... Sequin Cat in jeans?! Must be a sunny Sunday cycling and eating lunch with the in-laws.

I've seen this cute ad crop up in a few magazines lately and I just love the quirky prints!
Yes, it's for crockery label Wedgwood but I like it.

She sells sea shells
For some reason, I've been carrying around in the front pocket of my handbag a collection of tiny shells from my visit to Newcastle. It's nice to hear them tinkling as I fossick for my keys and to feel their smoothness but I do wonder why I'm really holding on to them.

Wednesday Wrap-down
Oh deaaaaaarrrrrr. Somebody commented on facebook that I was perhaps letting the blog slide a little. And you know what team? Totally true. I feel terrible (seriously; I think about it daily but am as such unable to make steps to rectify the problem. Hmm).
Here's where I'm at:
Here's where I'm at:
- Started a new job so I am adjusting to a new full-time routine. Getting up at 6.45. Staying at school till 6 or 7 pm, making sure all my work is done for the next day. Valuing my weekends. It's tiring but it is exciting! The fact that I am getting paid for it still seems unreal
- New car! Picked it (her?) up on Monday. Very exciting. Was sad to say farewell to my old one as it held so many memories. Fun to drive the new one though and admire its glossiness from my office window.
- Went to the cricket on Saturday and seriously enjoyed the game (and pyrotechnics!)
- Movies: Manfriend and I want to make weekly films a bit of a tradition so we took advantage of cheap Palace Nova Mondays and saw The King's Speech. His choice so next time will hopefully be mine! We also took advantage of the final few days of Moonlight Cinema to watch Donnie Darko under the stars in Botanic Park.
- Still taking lots of outfit photos for you all but need to take the next step and upload them. I'll get there!
- Seriously doubting my ability to play A-grade band music (I'm a percussionist) but I will attempt the challenge. It's a little difficult to practise timpani at home. I'd love to participate in the school musical if there is one this year!
- I couldn't share an update on my life (such as it is) without letting you all know about my reading habits. Unfortunately, early nights and lack of stamina are taking a toll on my page count - I can't make it through more than a few turns before my eyes start involuntarily closing. After enjoying quite a few books on my travels in Laos and Cambodia I seem to be stuck on The Vampire Lestat. My school's fiction section seems rather well-stocked so I'm looking forward to making use of the facility.
- Future plans? I'm off to Sydney this weekend then back for Phoenix on Monday night. Fringe Fest is starting up and I have tickets to both Soundwave and WOMAD (contrast, much?) Lots to look forward to!
Thanks for sticking by me during this busy period. I hope your weeks are similarly full to the brim with fun, adventure and challenges!

Daily Outfit: Meet the Students
I think my students were about as happy about being at school in 42˚ heat as I was. That's a lie! I love my job.
Hope all my teacher friends are enjoying a productive return to school.

Wednesday Wrap-up
It's late, hot and I'm tired. Full-time work is full-on!
Had a great return to band tonight.
More effort in blog posts when I can keep my eyes open.
(moonlight cinema tomorrow night! Donnie Darko...)
