My parents surprised me with a little something for my cold hands when they visited over the weekend.
Aren't they gorgeous?!

Just a Minute in May
Wowsers! Hasn't May just whizzed by?
Reading... not enough (for shame), staff notices, menus, awesome texts, school newsletters.
Watching... evolution rap, other teachers' lessons, my free time fly by.
Buying... the bestest ever slippers, $1.50 worth of cape, sneakers (seriously! I go on excursion this week), lots and lots of groceries, stationery.
Wanting... to be home, time with friends and loved ones, cat cuddles, more reading to be occurring, my students to participate more.
Making... dinner multiple times a week, exciting plans for the near future, funny clothing choices each morning, progress in my teaching.
Loving... playing my DS in downtime (true story!), listening to music, writing to-do lists, being a real French teacher.
There's a heavy emphasis in this little summary on teaching; most of May has been spent either on teaching prac in the country or in preparing for it. While I'm learning lots and am surrounded by supportive colleagues, I must admit I'm keen to come back to Adelaide. Really keen.
Six weeks of holidays await...

Listening... to my broken iPod on shuffle. Non-functional screen makes for interesting music selection. I put tunes on as soon as I wake up to get ready for the day and as soon as I get home from school. It's keeping me sane.

Oh no!
You poor, deprived people! Sorry for abandoning you all over the weekend. I trust that you had better things to do than feverishly update my blog, checking for new entries? Good.
Capitalising on my newfound teacher talk, I just want to express how disappointed I am in only reading four books this month. Not good enough, SequinCat! I expect a better standard and shouldn't make excuses for myself.
I really need to get my act together if I want to finish (start?) Great Expectations before bookclub in mid-June. I'm hoping that six weeks of holidays (ridiculous, I know) are conducive to snuggling into warm beds and flicking through hard covers. Mmm.

Wednesday Wrap-up
Oh boy! What a week. YES!
I'm still hanging out in the country (if you couldn't tell by my outfit shots), having a mix of good days and not so solid ones. My fellow staff are really supportive though and some of my students show excellent potential. This is definitely an interesting learning experience.
So what have I been up to, apart from school 8-5? I made curry, amongst other delicious meals. I've been ploughing through some novels late at night, instead of marking/planning (oops). I've been taking naps after hours and playing games to relax. I've been cooking with music playing and a glass of wine in the hand. I've been enjoying the small bath at the bottom of my shower.
What I must mention though, is the wonderful weekend that just was. I had a visitor catch the bus up from Adelaide to visit me and we spent a fantastic 48 hours together. The highlights? A surprise country drive out to Waikerie airfield to go gliding. The Riverland region looks incredible from a couple of thousand feet up. A relaxing afternoon at a chocolate cafe. In fact, a whole lot of food and drink. Reading fairy tales in bed. Fortune cookies and red wine. Walking around town, and riding bikes to Australia's largest rose garden.
Only two weeks left up here! Frappadingue.....

Daily Outfit: Day Eleven
Sorry for the late posting! I came down with a little cold (two weeks after starting at a public school, hmmm...) and the net wasn't working to full efficiency last night.

Daily Outfit: Day Eight
A few of my students have noticed that I like wearing a lot of red... so yesterday I decided to go a whole day without wearing any.
It nearly killed me.

Wednesday Wrap-up
Wednesday, how are you old friend? I'm doing rather nicely as I cooked a curry tonight, had some wine and cheese and got a whole stack of marking done. Oh yes.
Well folks, it seems the country air is agreeing with me (despite the ridiculously cold mornings). I've enjoyed local sunsets, local opshops, local starry nights, local food, walking to school, local nightlife, local hospitality, local cooking....
Reading books in bed, long phone calls to friends, sitting in front of the heater, crisp night walks, music to get me out of bed, full and fulfilling days at school, laughing with my housemate, dreaming.
I don't know what else to say! I'm quite busy planning some sick wicked lessons for fun students. I am most impressed with the participation.

Daily Outfit: Day Six
My first day as the teacher! I had a great time on Monday; all of my students were enthusiastic and participated well.
No wolf whistles today but a lot of good feedback on my teaching methods. Hurrah!

Daily Outfit: Le Weekend
I decided to stay in the country over the weekend. I went opshopping with some houseguests and came away with a most impressive purchase (I'll be taking photos soon! It's drying on the line as we speak...)
After sandwiches and wine in the sunshine, I headed off to watch my housemate play hockey against a neighbouring town. Saw some of my students while I was there - love country life.
That evening I had delicious homemade cannelloni at the town's Italian restaurant then a few quiet beers at the local. Lovely.

Finally, Friday!
What a busy week.
I was invited to the (real) French teacher's house for goat's cheese soufflé and wine. Divine.

Daily Outfit: Day Three
Oh dear! What a bad blogging break. But guess what? I'm a technological wizard and I finally got my country internet working! Expect much loving.
It got really cold in the Riverland suddenly.
Thankfully this cardigan felt like being wrapped up in a sleeping bag all day. Mmm.

Wednesday Wrap-up
Coming to you live from the Riverland! That's right, folks, I moved to the country on Saturday morning.
Since then it's been adjusting to country living and starting my first placement at the local high school.

Apparently they chomp on anything green.
A big thank you to anyone who supported me over this past week through the stress of assignments and moving. I really appreciate your continual encouragement.
Unfortunately I can't get the internet to work on my laptop so I'm not expecting frequent posting. I hope you can all entertain yourself in my absence and know that I'm really enjoying the night sky and still afternoons of a country town.

Daily Outfit: Photoshoot
We're almost there! This is the last one before I move to the country.
On Friday afternoon I had my photo taken for the paper. I was advised to not wear much black, white or stripes... oh dear. Eventually I found this red dress hiding in the depths of my cupboards.
I look like a French teacher, non?

Daily Outfit: Fizz.
On Thursday night I dressed up for opening night of my friend's musical. She's a star!
The date continued with dinner on Gouger, drinks at Supermild and then I learnt how to play pool. Woo!
