Flowers

Original source unknown despite attempting the good ol' tineye.

The manfriend brought over hand-picked flowers last night to say sorry. It was very cute.

Daily Outfit: Black lace

Something different for me today. Black embroidered floral kimono (it was my grandma's and the stitching is coming apart - antique!) with a dusky pink layered lace skirt. Not sure if I like it or not but it did the job.

Daily Outfit: Neon and stripes.

Oh boy! It's been cold lately.

Digging the Wicked vibe?

I've been making a conscious effort to get away from school earlier in the afternoons....

Daily Outfit: Wicked!

We finally got around to seeing Wicked the other weekend. The costumes made me want to dress more theatrically and to wear more colour. I hope this feeling lasts!

The theme was green.

Been to the theatre lately? Seen anything amazing?

Winter colour

I bought a few vibrant silk shirts from a vintage store the other day; hopefully they'll inject a bit of colour into my (woeful) winter wardrobe.

Any cold weather inspiration you'd like to share?

Daily Outfit: Hothouse florals

After a long day at school, I headed into the city to see a film premiere then had spontaneous dinner with friends. Hurrah!

It was quite warm too. Just lovely.

Toad Tuesday

Headed to a premiere of the new documentary, Cane Toads: The Conquest on Tuesday.

Surprisingly humorous! Sobering too (I took a glass of red into the cinema).

Daily Outfit: Maritime

Had a "casual" day at school last week. I found some jeans somewhere in the wardrobe.

Daily Outfit: The Colonel

Anybody feel like chicken?

Milkshake Muggle

We finally got around to watching The Deathly Hallows the other night. All up to speed for the final installment!

Emma Watson for InStyle magazine December 2007/January 2008.

Finally, less wooden performances!

Daily Outfit: Sequin school

I asked a challenging question the other day... "Are sequins appropriate school attire?" Fortunately, the vice principal loved my leggings.

La veste rouge

Vivienne Westwood Jacket photographed by Cindy Palmano.

Do you think I could get away with this at work?

Daily Outfit: A little shine

Layering up for work can be a bit of a downer; I try and keep things shiny and colourful.

Birds of a feather

So sweet! Original source unknown.

Daily Outfit: Eurotrash

Hello! Happy Monday.

Last weekend was Eurovision. I partied.

Daily Outfit: Babies

Don't worry, I'm not hiding a special secret from you.

This is not the mama-to-be.

Last weekend, I headed to my dear friend's baby shower. I tried not to be weird.

I did, however, enjoy the Mad Hatter theme.

Change is...

..as good as a holiday, right? I mentioned the other day that I'm feeling myself slump into a bit of a style rut. I think I just need to moodboard some winter direction and pack away those short skirts that remind me of summer. Plus, it's hard getting dressed for school: covering up knees and chest and shoulders, not going too craycray yet not sacrificing my personal style either.

I am very excited about my new lip colours!

Daily Outfit: After-school drinks

Martinis and tapas on a Friday night.

Gorilla fur over the polka-dot trench = snug

Daily Outfit: Layers

Some mornings I just don't know...

Daily Outfit: le Cirque

I was lucky enough last week to go see Cirque du Soleil's travelling show, Saltimbanco!

Happy clown...

Sad clown!

Still loving my tuxedo jacket.

Booked

Lovely ladies and gentle menfolk: book recommendations for me! I'm feeling lost at sea. What's your favourite read?

Daily Outfit: It's a wrap

Getting dressed for school has been hard lately!

A fellow teacher said to me today that my clothes keep getting funnier. I'm not sure how to take that... does this mean I should go shopping?

Colouring-in adventures

My childlike enthusiasm for colouring-in waxes and wanes. I did receive a very cheeky nude colouring-in book for my birthday last year (with stickers!) but unfortunately haven't yet taken it out of its wrapping. Last week I also downloaded a free colouring app for those rare quiet moments of my life. Not convinced. (Side note: any amazing app recommendations? I'm new to the iPhone bandwagon)

If you're feeling inspired to get out your Derwents, may I gently guide you in the direction of this charming Yves Saint Laurent colouring book? It features 40 of Saint Laurent's previously unpublished rough sketches for you to shade in your favourite colours or be guided by the recommended schemes.

It was released in 2010 to coincide with the YSL retrospective in Paris (bien sûr), and closes in signature style with a wedding dress.

Buy here, here or here!

Daily Outfit: Green Dream

One of my students asked if it was St Patrick's day. I like to wear a bit of colour when it's miserable outside.

And here come the inside photos because it is dark and wet outside. Love winter.

Daily Outfit: Feeling blue

Not really! I just like these stockings.

Sorry about the photo; by the time I get home from school it's almost dark outside. Bring back daylight savings!

I've been thinking lately about why I don't live in Perth/Darwin/California. Surely putting up with this cold weather is unnecessary? I know it's not le grand froid, but without central heating in our homes the chills do hurt.

Daily Outfit: Tropical Stripe

Getting dressed for school has been difficult lately. I'm not really into the transseasonal thing and I'm not sure what I want my winter direction to be. Couple that with everything in the wardrobe looking a bit stale.... I think I need to mix it up!

Daily Outfit: Mothers' Day

We hosted a luncheon. It was a nice distraction from marking.

Du lait français

I just finished the delightful French Milk by artist Lucy Knisley.

I remember hearing about this book a couple of years ago but just found it when I was browsing my local library last week. An illustrated diary/travelogue, Knisley's book describes her and her mother's adventures in Paris during their six-week holiday to France.

The book is mostly composed of illustrated diary entries and the occasional photograph. It's funny and smart and charming and made me wistful for all my lovely Paris memories. I also loved all the food descriptions (despite being a vegetarian myself).

You can find the author's website here.

Daily Outfit: Red Flowers

Autumn outfit for school.

Cat snaps

A colleague at work accused me of being a cat person, a label I embrace wholeheartedly.

Wednesday Wrap-up

School. Not enough sleep. Date night. Marking. School.

Daily Outfit: Hear me Roar!

Got a bit jungle at school on Wednesday. Lots of comments!

Where I'm at right now.

I was at a conference on Thursday where they said, "If you wanted to, you could work 24/7."

Original source unknown, despite givin' the ol' tineye.org a go.

I don't want to be that person. But I'm finding it hard not to be. Markingmarkingmarking.

Daily Outfit: Stripe Suit

Getting into the winter wardrobe for school. Feel disappointed by lack of summer. Then again I did go to SE Asia...

PS. My little brooch hiding there is Disney's Alice in Wonderland.

Daily Outfit: Cupcake Dreaming

Hello petals! How are we all feeling this week? I'm cold and tired and it's only Monday. Oh dear.

Last week I was lucky enough to get to Katy Perry in concert. Woo!

Tiara was a last-minute addition.
