The calendars say that tomorrow is November but I'm sitting here freezing in my bedroom. Not feeling very sartorially inspired lately; I blame this on the cold weather I've endured for the last six months (oh, and before that was a snowy winter in Paris).
I hope we get some lasting sunshine soon!

Daily Outfit: Treadly
On Friday night we attended the opening of my friend's new bike shop! Bravo.
Look at how my hair's gone curly after riding in the rain!
I am so impressed by my friends opening their own business. I have a feeling they'll do very, very well.
Next time you're in the city, make sure to swing by Treadly Bike Shop, just off Rundle Street. Tell them I sent you!

Style Book
A new fashion book has been released and its collection of 450-odd photographs looks mighty inspiring. Not your average streetstyle coffee table book, Style Book: Fashionable Inspirations hosts men and women from different eras, countries and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Not too expensive either! Do you think it'll fit in my Christmas stocking?
Read an interview with the book's compiler, Elizabeth Walker, here.

Daily Outfit: Offensive to the eyes
She blogs!
When I walked into my lecture on Tuesday morning, I asked my friend on a scale from 'rather' to 'very' how offensive my outfit was. Tee hee!
Fun fun fun.

Leave of absence
Sorry folks for not being online lately. I had my last day of university, potentially forever, yesterday. Woo! To celebrate, I stayed up really late working on an assignment due today. That I told my lecturer I hadn't started. That I had all year to complete.
Ah, the joys of being a uni student.
Anyway, if I get around to finishing it this afternoon and hand it in on time then I might afford myself a little breathing space and update the blog tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Daily Outfit: Stretchy Saturday
Stretchy waistlines for Saturday night Chinese fest!
Unfortunately my stockings ripped a massive hole just as I was pedalling off into the sunset. Oh well!

Daily Outfit: Red Shoulder
Thought I'd counter the (ridiculously) short dress with a power blazer. See also: taking your own photo in the bathroom as the manfriend's too boozed to take the shot!
Strange yet good night out.

Inspiration Scrapbooking
I had a little time before I went out the other night and decided to have a look through my folder of fashion clippings for inspiration. It's a (highly disorganised) manila folder bursting with tearings from magazines and newspapers: editorials, ad campaigns, interesting articles, books I want to read, restaurants to try, things to blog about, street-style photos, pictures from catalogues...
Does anyone else have such an inspiration folder? How do you organise your favourite images? I have more bits and bobs stored elsewhere: in a ring binder and in a shoe box for some of the smaller snippets. However, as a Virgo I desire to get this situation organised in a more orderly fashion!
Please, please share with me your tips and tricks!

Bicycle girl... or lady?
I was pleased as punch today, riding along North Terrace! Usually cyclists cop a bit of heckling from cars and pedestrians alike, but this time it was a bunch of primary school kids. Comments included "How does that lady ride her bike in those shoes?" and "She's like the lady from the ad!"... do they mean this one?
Secretly, I was most pleased that in the eyes of children I'm a lady, no longer a girl!

Wednesday Wrap-up
Back to uni. Grey weather and restless nights mean I'm inclined to skip classes...
Weekend sunshine and good food make me happy. Turns out I'm a bit of a chef after I knocked up multiple delicious dishes on Saturday afternoon.
Also: Trip up into the hills to meet new/old friends. Everywhere was so green and lush. A beautiful house with amazing garden. Cozy interior, red wine, homemade pasta, cheese platter. So happy.
Reading about Cambodia in the pub and making plans. I applied for some money to approach the trip from a linguistic perspective. I hope to study France's colonial impact on present-day Laos and Cambodia, and also compare the evolution of French within these countries. And backpack.
Headed back into school to help the year 12s practise for their French oral exam next week. Sometimes it freaks me out that my mind is entirely capable of functioning in another language, and that there is no conscious step-by-step translation into English. My brain just runs in French when I am speaking it. Looking forward to helping the manfriend with his French over the summer break. I've already dug out some resources for him.
Spending time with my family: drinks and a concert with dad, cooking with mom. We ate outside for the first time this Spring on Monday night and it was great to relax and eat and chat in the balmy evening air. Summer's on its way! My dad got back from Milan on Sunday evening and I was a naughty daughter and not home to meet him. At the pub instead!
Looking back, it seems to have been rather a busy week... no wonder I'm walking around with my eyes half-shut! Looking forward to my sister's engagement party this week and more travel planning.

Inspiration?
I seem to be alternating wildly between lacking any inspiration and sartorial overload. What's going on?! Change of seasons?
Is anyone else not sure what's going on with their sense of style?

Daily Outfit: Artistic Friday
You Guys! I had such a great weekend. We drove up to the hills on Friday and spent the evening eating and drinking with friends in an artist's home. AMAZING! Woke up to natural light and cows and fresh frost. So happy to see blossoms first thing in the morning.

Back to School...
I'm back to Uni tomorrow morning and not particularly looking forward to it.
But then again, who is?!
At least I've only three weeks before it's back to cooking and reading and travelling again. In other news, holiday plans!

Does the Devil wear Prada?
I watched The Devil wears Prada yesterday after reading it a few weeks back (way behind the bandwagon, I know).
Maybe it was the glass of wine in my hand, but I didn't find Miranda Priestly as beastly as in the book.
Thoughts?

Wednesday Wrap-up
I realise it's a day late but I've just been having too much fun this week!
So what's been the haps?
After finishing my French conference last Wednesday and celebrating my friend's PhD with her, I camped out at my manfriend's for a few nights. We drank wine and I learnt to make pizza from scratch with his housemates while he was at work. He cooks me crepes in the mornings.
Riding in the sunshine! Loving the spring weather.
Friday night out with teaching pals at the Wheatsheaf to watch bands and drink brews.
Pottering around my garden on Saturday and ticking things off my to-do list. I haven't been home much lately so this was a nice change. Went out on Saturday night with my mom to some live comedy! It's so refreshing to do something different once in a while. Welcomed a very boozy manfriend home after his cousin's wedding.
Daylight saving snuck up on me on Sunday and I ended up being an hour late to my friend's afternoon teaparty. Celebrating 30 years with Pimm's and croquet goes down a treat! I had such a nice time eating cucumber sandwiches, drinking rosé and failing at elegant sports. Wonderful riding home downhill in the fading light. Later that night, the manfriend and I tried our hand at making cold rolls for tea. Success!
Public holiday Monday ended up being my only day of paid employment so far this year. I signed up to work for Parklife, and while I saw some friendly faces and got to enjoy music it wasn't really my kind of thing. I enjoyed some free mojitos and danced to New Young Pony Club before heading home for an early night.
Other activities? Tutoring, libraries, cleaning, filing, emails, phone calls and..... booking tickets! On a whim, manfriend and I booked flights to South-East Asia for January next year. I'm so excited!
